About

Built for writers, not for engagement.

wordcountr.com is a free online word counter built for students, writers, bloggers, and social media managers who need clean, fast, and accurate text statistics, without the noise.

Why We Built This

Most word counters are cluttered. They push upsells, require sign-ups, and bury the actual stats you need under a wall of unnecessary features. We got tired of it.

We built wordcountr.com because we wanted a tool that was fast to load, honest about what it does, and genuinely useful. No paywalls. No dark patterns. No "upgrade to pro to see your character count."

What Makes It Different

  • Reading time and speaking time: not just word count. Useful if you're writing a speech, a blog post, or a script.
  • Keyword density: see which words and phrases appear most often in your text. Helpful for writers and SEO.
  • Essay mode: set a word count goal and track your progress with a live progress bar. Great for assignments with strict word limits.
  • Reading level: Flesch-Kincaid grade level calculated in real time so you know how accessible your writing is.
  • File upload support: paste text, or drag and drop a .txt, .docx, or .pdf file.

No Account. No Storage. No Tracking of Your Text.

Everything happens in your browser. When you type or paste text into the word counter, it never leaves your device. We don't send it to a server, we don't store it, and we never read it. The counting logic runs entirely in JavaScript on your machine.

We use Google Analytics for aggregate traffic data (how many visitors, which pages, from where) and Google AdSense to display ads that keep the site free. Neither service receives any text you enter. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Who It's For

  • Students: check essay and assignment word counts instantly.
  • Writers and authors: track progress toward daily writing goals.
  • Bloggers and content creators: estimate reading time before publishing.
  • Social media managers: count characters for Twitter/X, LinkedIn, and other platforms with strict limits.
  • Speakers and presenters: estimate speaking time for speeches, pitches, and talks.
